I Some theory around »aesthetics of access«
II Relaxed Performance
Create a Collection on:
What could artistic directors do to make neurodivergent and/or chronically ill people feel welcome in the theatre?

Porch sitting on: Leaving the show
Thinking & Dreaming on:
How does it feel for you as an audience member to leave a performance?
How does it feel for you as a producing choreographer /artistic director and/or performer when audience members leave the (your) performance?

Closure & Cleaning the space
TAKE AWAY
Horizontal Rest
Horizontal resting is exactly what it sounds like: lying down and doing nothing.
Before you begin, find a place where you can stretch out flat on the floor.
A mat can support your body, but it’s not essential.
Set a timer for 5-10 minutes.
That’s all the preparation you need.
Body Position
Lie on your back with your legs extended.
Let your arms rest loosely by your sides.
Maybe your palms are facing upward.
Access Tips
- If lying on your back feels uncomfortable, place a rolled-up blanket or pillow under your knees.
- If lying flat isn’t accessible for your body, you can also do this practice while sitting.
- We’re in a relaxed space — you can leave and return at any time.
Of course, you can also take breaks if you notice the practice doesn’t feel right for you, or stop entirely.
Once you’ve found your resting position, don’t do anything else.
Resting has no task and no goal.
No body scan, no somatics, no breathwork.
Don’t try to sense, analyze, or plan anything.
Please don’t secretly start coordinating your next project, checking your to-do list, or planning dinner for the family.
Just stay still — and let yourself be in the quiet.
That’s all.
And now the moment has come:
Activate timer and then…
You may rest.
